Despite the constant rains and no sunshine some plants have bloomed. But I'm still waiting for the Peony to bloom - over a month now. Here's some photos:

Well, actually one of the front borders is finally done. Over the last couple of weeks I've been thinking of what to plant there and then I finally got around to getting a design for that area. I bought lots of part shade/sun plants and removed everything that was there.

Well, hopefully I'm done with my plant shopping for the season --- yeah - right! I've started planting one of the front borders yesterday after two days of shopping frenzies.
It started with going to the annual Adkins' native plant sale and ending with a bargain hunt at Frank's nursery and crafts. Adkins' had the largest selection of natives that I've ever seen. I bought mostly sun loving perennials, grasses, and ferns. I'll take a photo and put that up soon.

Our area finally got some rain after a week of predictions. It looks like this whole week it will be raining on and off, but Saturday should be beautiful. The new plants are loving the moisture and are quickly settling in. I do need to still plant some remainders and adjust some others.
I've also got inspired to redo the two front borders and plant heavily in the fall. I'll spend the bringing laying out the foundation of the garden and preparing the soil.
This weekend is another plant sale, which I'll be attending at Adkins Arboreteum. From what I hear they have a nice selection of native plants.

This week has been very productive for me. I spent Tuesday night removing Liriope from the front island...which had become completely rampant and badly behaved! Out it goes.
Wednesday night I planted all but 2 of my sun plants:
Purple meadow sage
Dropseed grass
Wild blue indigo
Amsonia
Appalachian ruelllia
Phlox
Today or this weekend I'll plant the native honeysuckle and peony.
