02:05 PM || Report from AHS Plant Sale

As always, I leave wishing I had bought more! LOL!!! But then again there's always tomorrow.

The vendors are great, friendly, quite informative and best of all a wonderful selection of hard to find plants. My favorite vendors were there again: Doyle Farm Nursery, Nature by Design and another I can't remember that's run by an older couple. The last one mentioned has gallon sized pots of Hellebores for about $12! Can't beat that. Sure they may not be the latest strains but who cares.

I picked up:
Goldie's Wood Fern
Indian Pinkroot
Maidenhair Fern
Hellebore
Pink Turtlehead

The first two mentioned vendors have loads of natives: Squirrel corn, Ginger, Hepatica, Ladie's Tresses, etc....

If you can stop by today or tomorrow.

02:30 PM || Adkins Arboretum

Well, hopefully I'm done with my plant shopping for the season --- yeah - right! I've started planting one of the front borders yesterday after two days of shopping frenzies.

It started with going to the annual Adkins' native plant sale and ending with a bargain hunt at Frank's nursery and crafts. Adkins' had the largest selection of natives that I've ever seen. I bought mostly sun loving perennials, grasses, and ferns. I'll take a photo and put that up soon.

11:32 AM || Lower Marlboro here I come!

I just got an email back from the owner of Lower Marlboro Nursery letting me know that they'll be around this Friday for me to visit. I can't wait to see what plants they have available for sale! Now - I've gotta control myself.

There's some cool upcoming plant sales in the area...

Adkins Arboretum Native Plant Sale

Londontown Publik House

I'm sure I'll end up buying loads of native plants as well as cool shade plants. Although I do need to concentrate on the front island and beds, which get loads of sun. I find the sun gardening not as rewarding as the shade gardening. Maybe that's just me.
