The kids know how to help out

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

Last weekend I spent the days organizing the yarn and fiber stash. It was a mess. I had bags all over the house stuffed with projects, tools, patterns, and gods know what else! Lobo decided she could help out by taking residence on top of plastic bags. Why on earth she decides that’s a good place, I have no idea. She’s an odd bird.

This weekend I tackled my books and patterns and acquired a few more mags and a book! I got the new IK in the mail, picked up IK Holiday Knits, and the latest KnitScene. Then I got really crazy and stopped by the Yarn Garden to see if the pattern I had ordered was in. That would be a no. So, I bought this:

I got loads done this weekend!

It all started with doing some serious knitting and reading with the help of Pikachu. I finished spinning the Pucker Brush roving:

Lady Eleanor is done! This was super easy and very boring to knit. Lobo feels the same.

Pattern: Lady Eleanor, Scarf Style
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden, 71, 6 balls or so
Needles: US 10

I want another weekend like this…

Excuse the mess and turmoil

I’m the process of dumping Movable Type and moving to WordPress. In this chaos, I’m trying to retain as much of the structure as possible without too much headache. The CSS is somewhat ok, the templates need more work, and my RSS feeds are now completely new. So, please ladies if you’re using Bloglines or any other service you will most likely need to resubscribe. Here’s the link for you.

New books

On Friday I begged the DH to go to Barnes and Noble with me, since I hadn’t been outside all day long! Off we went, and then came home with these:

Elspeth, you have to see this book. It’s to die for! I’m in love with almost every pattern…and they all practically call for US1 or 2s. Yikes! And another goodie that will hopefully clear up some confusion at Mimosa Knits:

Knitting with wire

Thursday, October 7th, 2004

This week I picked up two books at the library that were ordered for me. I got Knit and crochet with beads by Lily M. Chin and Knitting With Wire. Knitting With Wire is quite interesting especially if you want to venture into another realm of knitting and jewelry making. I believe Rowan has kits for knitting necklaces. You could probably get the materials for much cheaper though.

What Am I Knitting?

Yes, I know. I have the same question for myself. I had started the kitty bed with this yarn I got off eBay but I just can’t knit with it! This yarn is absolutely foul. It smells, it feels waxy, it smells, it’s just gross. So, I think I will get some other yummy stuff and begin ASAP. I’m also finishing up Klaralund. Slowly but surely. The sleeves can really drive you insane. I’m doing both at the same time so it seems much longer. What else, let’s see…

1. Little Leaf Scarf, in Koigu, US 6 - I need to rip back and restart. Yucky.

2. Poncho - in Mountain colors Weaver’s Wool, Colinette Mohair, US 8

3. Basketweave Pullover, in Lana D’Oro, US 8s or 9s

It doesn’t seem long but I’m stressing about my holiday knitted gifts. I may have to reduce my list.

Slow September…

Wednesday, September 24th, 2003

It’s almost gone but I feel like I’m just getting into September. I’m looking forward to vacation in October. I have a tower of books to read at the beach. Currently I’m reading The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles. It’s amazing to think that this book was written in ‘49.
